Talking into the phone is a lot easier than typing. According to a study from Northstar Research, 55 percent of teenagers say they are using voice search every day, and 56 percent of adults use it. Why type into a phone when you can just ask Siri or Cortana a question?

 

Research shows that Google can provide direct answers to questions in nearly 20 percent of search queries. This number continues to go up, so we can only anticipate that Google will get better at it, not worse. When you consider that just a couple of short years ago, Google Answers was yet to be seen in the search engines, you get an idea of just how fast this is moving along.

  • Write in a natural, conversationalist voice
  • Write in the language used by your customers

 

At this time, Google is not penalizing websites that are not voice search friendly. But, websites that are implementing these strategies are coming out ahead.
