Alsion Private School Students Creative Insights

Alsion Private School Students Are Independent Thinkers

At Alsion, each student’s educational experience is geared toward developing creative thought and a problem-solving mindset. Our teachers and administrators build a strong foundation by requiring that students master core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social science, history, and a foreign language.
We reinforce that base of knowledge with a variety of extracurricular activities that inspire students to grow through challenging experiences outside the classroom.
The result: Alsion private school students become confident, independent thinkers. Years after graduation, our resourceful alumni continue to make wise choices in their careers and personal lives.

How We Encourage Students to Think Creatively

Alsion Montessori encourages students to think creatively in an academic environment that includes:

  • Small classes and individualized instruction. With classes of 15 or fewer, teachers are able to spend more time interacting with individual students. This one-on-one instruction builds students’ confidence to express themselves in project groups or as public speakers.
  • A diverse and challenging curriculum. Students develop a sense of achievement and self-esteem by successfully completing college courses, Advanced Placement classes and activities such as the No Left Turn Here Cafe and Biome Trips.
  • Hands-on learning. In the classroom or during extracurricular activities at Alsion, learning at the school calls for active participation. Various clubs, daily gardening on campus, and functions such as The Coffeehouse, a combination talent show and potluck dinner, encourage students to get involved in their school.

‘Witherly Heights’ Blog Showcases Students’ Opinions

One high-profile showcase for students’ self-expression is the Alsion Montessori online blog, www.witherlyheights.com.
Written entirely by our students, the blog includes movie reviews, essays, drawings, photos, and interviews. A recent post featured a written debate between students on what constitutes “hate speech” on college campuses.
Blog contributors can post virtually anything they wish, as long as it is well researched and clearly articulated. It is an ideal outlet for students who are learning about important issues and events they will be encountering the rest of their lives.
