Business is soft, no doubt about it. The mistake many businesses make is they pull back from advertising and reduce efforts to improve their online presence.

Now is the time to closely evaluate what worked best and invest in it. Now is not the time to go with what worked two years ago – yellow pages, for instance.

It is time to be “smartly aggressive”, not to withdraw. Why? Because that what your competitors are doing. The winners in this economy will be the ones who stick it out, keeping their name visible online – where more people look for goods and services than anywhere else!

Improve your web site. Improve your Landing Pages . Improve your offers and calls to action.

Study your pay per click advertising . Kill non-performing search keyphrases, or work with your Internet Consultant to find out which ones are driving leads.

Build up your natural search engine listings with good information, blogs, and overall best practice SEO Techniques .

Use post cards – and drive people to new, specific landing pages on your site – with a specific offer.

Try email marketing – very carefully. Expect the number of legitimate emails going into boxes to increase dramatically. It is an inexpensive way to get your word out – that everyone else will be using. Therefore, consider starting with your existing client base to stay in touch – they know you already!

Don’t Forget Your Image Naming for SEO

More and more searchers are spending time looking and browsing through the image searches on Google and other search engines, rather than normal text searches. It makes for more interesting views.

Don’t forget to name your images with something that is relevant to the image itself. Don’t fall into the trap of naming images sequentially because they are easy to organize. Name them something that gives the search engine an idea of what they are.

Use Alternate text tags – not to keyword stuff (bad) – but for better identification of the image and page it is on.

Include a subtitle below the image – make sure your visitor knows what the image is! They are your buyers!

Note that search engines are presenting more images in their text search…now you understand why!
